When most people conceive of a Demiurge they think either of the Abrahamic God, or the Christian Satan. However there is a transcendent and deeply rooted mystical truth to Demiurgeous. In the ancient mystical tradition there is no true separation between person and cosmos. Here we offer an introduction...
This also gets to the whole, "If there is a loving God, then why does he let all these bad things happen?"
Of course, the answer would be Romans 8:28, "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
I think that there is more in common between many of the oldest religions and Christianity, just most people don't see them.
For instance, yesterday I was reading through Patanjali's Yoga Sutras (long story). Many of those teachings have parallels to the teachings of Jesus. Same thing with Zoroastrianism. There are a lot of parallels there as well.
I don't claim to be any kind of religious authority, but reading through many texts, one would think it's odd to see so many similarities, but I don't think it's odd. To me it seems to affirm, that I'm on the right path. If that makes any sense.
Whenever one discusses Christianity, one must keep in mind a few important facts, not the least of which is that it is part of the Abrahamic corpus. All Abrahamic ideologies are built upon earlier foundations. These foundations all derive from so-called Pagan practices, and such practices all had their thread of similarity. The reason for this thread of similarity was due to similarity of origin and purpose of the Pagan source.
The second important fact to keep in mind is that all Abrahamic ideologies are built around strong political foundations. We can all easily observe that this is still the case today. Political ideology tends to be syncretic, it takes its ideas and practices from many different sources, but as such, it offers little native inspiration.
Taken as such, much is lost in translation from source material to the Abrahamic ideologies.
My purpose behind this essay is to point out that the Gnostic understanding of what the Abrahamics refer to as God is born out of a deep mystical truth. Christianity borrowed heavily from the Gnostics, this is simple historical fact, and in writing from the perspective of the mystic it is essential to return the integrity of the image.
Yes, thank you, you have always had skill and a flare for the internet.
I believe it was some time around the 6th century that a treatise appeared in the christian corpus, discussing the fantastic beasts of the heavens.
We still think this way, at least a little bit, as we still use concepts such as Taurus the Bull, and can use this thought to perhaps grasp how heavenly beings affect conditions here on earth.
Yaldabaoth, Saklas, Abraxas lives both within and without his cosmic organization, and he participates in this pantheon of fantastic heavenly beasts.
The reality of these incredible beings is something that truly escapes words. The order they give to the cosmos, the incredible power and mystery are not simply quaint imaginings, or psychological abstractions.
The modern mind has been taught to examine such phenomena as an external object or condition, but this in itself is only pretending that perception itself doesn't truly exist, which is a trick that is regularly played on all of us.
The heart of perception is mysterious, and its fire is consciousness, and together, events such as the bolt of serpent energy illustrate, or at least can show the depths of this dance.
So, yes, in a sense then the Demiurge is evil. He must be, for all of this is his glittering organization, the flaming sword of Surt, manifestation in the most carnal sense. At the same time, the Demiurge cannot be evil, because the thought itself defines a condition he transcends merely through living.
I can say that from the point of view of being a living person living it small in this reality all of this sounds incredible. Yet perception is real, it is an innate faculty, and it has the capacity to transcend this tiny sphere.
There once were, on the internet, very talented and qualified people from the UK who shared their study and insight into ancient Germanic/Nordic lore. They were driven away by current cognitive tyranny, which is convinced of its own superiority and righteousness-where have we seen this before?
They revealed threads they had found in ancient cultures the Aryans had migrated to after the Battle of the Ten Kings, and illustrated a path that vindicated List when he placed Surt in the position of the Cosmic Organizer.
Surt and Sinmara, the first Ioten, before even Ymir on the ladder of Emanation.
The Demiurge is generally assumed to be a feature of Gnosticism, yet as the ancient Hermeticists explained, the Demiurge is a necessary force in creation.
It may surprise you learn that in certain American Indian traditions, the Demiurge, while not called such, performs that role.
One very clear example is Raven, another is Rabbit, and amongst the Iriquoise, the dual aspect of the organizer is served by the divine twins.
So, my point is that outside of the all absorbing abrahamists, there are threads and weaves and echoes across this world. You yourself have brought some to light amongst the Saami.
Thank you for the translation of Surt from Norweigian into English, I do very much appreciate it.
I wrote this for several reasons. First was to integrate that very experience I related at the beginning of this piece, and the second was an attempt to refute the common notion that the Demiurge was simply an earlier manifestation of Satan.
When the ancients stated that man was the microcosm, literally tiny cosmos, they were referring to a fundamental truth of the human condition-that the totality of existence lies both within oneself, and without. To regard any external phenomenon as utterly independant, and purely malefic is to ignore this truth.
Please try to understand that today there is a great desire to embrace truth, and especially spiritual truth, which may sometimes result in explorations by people that seem incongruent, or perhaps even comical. This is necessary as mankind makes a large scale move away from empowering massive global institutions, which has been the effort of mankind for the last couple thousand years.
Contrary to common assumption, there is no conflict between the Druid and the Gnostic, no issue between Runes and modern life.
I will continue to write, as long as the events of my life permit it. I am honoured to read that these few words were helpful to you.
